The Villa O Refúgio is a spacious and comfortable house with a homey aura. Its privilege location allows you to be at an easy 1,7 km walk from the North Coast seashore.
The house accommodates 10 people max. and is perfectly set up for an unforgettable holiday with family and friends!
With plenty of outdoor green spaces to enjoy, a brook and a large private patio you will have both peace and quiet. On the outdoors there are hammocks for you to enjoy the silence and the view.
For those who are more adventurous, the surrounding areas have fun activities to do such as surf, hikes, etc.

Your home-away-from-home
The house is a two-storey level house with two bedrooms. The first floor is where you find the bedrooms, the living room and the bathroom. The kitchen, the dining room, the service area and the toilet are set on the ground floor. The living room is a big salon with plenty space for 2 leather sofas, and 2 king size futon-beds. The kitchen is fully equipped, with all the mod-cons. For more passionate and traditional people there is an oven and a wood stove.
Towels are available for everyone as well as bedclothes. Cot/s and high chair for infants are provided. Free Parking and WIFI.

Guest access
The Property is a 48 minutes drive from the airport. Drive all the way to São Vicente and you'll arrived at your destination when you see a wooden sign of "O Refugio". Follow the sign and enter the property.
Once you step through the front gate, witch is always opened, you will pass trough the owner's house, and a large and private patio welcomes you to this lovely villa. You're welcome to park you car there.
This patio is surrounded with gardens an ideal space for children to play, or for adults to relax on the sun-loungers!
Two different outdoor staircases takes you up either to a pleasant garden or to a nice terrace where you can sit and enjoy the views looking to the surroundings and it's panoramic views.
You can also enjoy al fresco dining at a table on the BBQ.
A perfect picnic park with fantastic view welcome you to a light meal just a few steps from the gardens.
All of this is for you to enjoy.
Getting around
The local bus schedule is not so frequent. It is recommended to rent a car. This way you will easily visit all the cities and villages as well as the exquisite sceneries from the interior of the Island.

Guest interaction
The house is part of a almost 6500 square meters property with two houses on it. The first on the entrance is the owner's house, Mena. She spends most of her time at a house just next to Refúgio. The Manager, Ema lives in Funchal, but goes almost every day to Refúgio, to make sure everything is on track. They are always available to offer help in person throughout your stay. As well as being 100% contactable by phone/email of course!
They also give their guests space and privacy, but are available whenever the guests need.

House Policy
Be comfortable and enjoy your stay as if it was your house. We would appreciate you to respect the furniture and equipments.
Make sure that you smoke outside, please. Ashtrays are at your disposal.
Pets are allowed with restrictions (to avoid allergies from other guests). Be sure that they don't go to the first floor. Enjoy!
